The MBA Application Process, Part 5: Your Career Statement – Fact, Fiction, and How to Build One

One of the most essential components of your business school application is your rationale for why you want an MBA in the first place—your career statement—and it needs to tie together your future goals, how they relate to where you are today, and how business school is the necessary bridge between the two. Each school also wants to know that you understand how its specific resources and programs will help you achieve your vision. Developing a convincing and effective career statement takes logic, clarity, and passion.

In Part 5 of our nine-part series on the MBA application process, we will clarify the career statement’s role in your candidacy and what makes a career statement compelling. We will also present a useful formula for constructing a persuasive statement, along with before-and-after examples of different elements of this statement.
